It was a pretty busy week over here in Tripletville! Between a sick Jacob, a Monday night meeting, a Tuesday night sick Zachary, a Wednesday night parent teacher meeting, a Friday night Passion party, a Saturday morning grocery and afternoon Touch a Truck, a Sunday morning restaurant breakfast and morning playdate with many many friends and yet again a sick Zachary afternoon, we've been busy bees! That's it really, that's our week, blog over!
Jacob actually got better pretty quick. I think it's due in one part to the meds of course but also due to him being such a good little night sleeper. To look at him today you wouldn't think he was the same baby that was curled up in my arms last week. Nope, this weekend, it was a different baby that was curled up in my arms. Poor little Zachary somehow got the croup:

At first, a child may have cold symptoms, like a stuffy or runny nose and a fever. As the upper airway (the lining of the windpipe and the voice box) becomes more inflamed and swollen, the child may become hoarse, with a harsh, barking cough. This loud cough, which is characteristic of croup, often sounds like the barking of a seal. (Just in case y'all were curious). |
I was almost certain that this is what he had when he woke up from his nap this afternoon. I had an inkling this morning but I wasn't 100% sure so we went about our usual day. I almost rushed to the E.R. with him this morning because he woke up crying and like he couldn't breathe. While I was getting ready to go, he started doing better and was drinking water, eating his Cheerios and laughing with his brothers. We made the decision to wait it out a bit and see thinking he was just a little congested due to a cold. After the park, he was super tired and was even asking to go to sleep so we put him down early and when I went to get him up for his clinic appointment, his weird breathing had returned and his seal like cough was at an all time high. The clinic doctor gave us a prescription for meds and home we came. He's doing better already but I have to give him his 2nd dose of meds at 8:30pm and these meds are supposed to make them hyper. The ones I gave him this afternoon didn't really hype him up that much so I really hope he sleeps through the night... poor little dude!
I organised a play date this morning for a bunch of my friends and their babies and I was super happy to see a lot of them there. I think I got to see 8 or 9 of my friends and their families. My sister also came with my nieces so it was nice to have a few extra pairs of hands around so that I was able to chat a bit with friends I hadn't seen in a long time. (Love you soooo much Véro and Josée!). It was also nice to see my besties with all our families around us. It was cold and the dew had made everything wet but the kids didn't care and everyone had a good time. My boys were pretty clingy to Gabe and I for a bit for after a while they started playing a bit more. Except for Zachary who was feeling worse and worse which is when I called it a day and we came home and put him straight to bed and called the clinic. See, I'm a good mom! I hope we get to have more of those play dates! Such a good time!
For those of you who are curious, I'm down 17lbs in my weight loss journey. It's going really great and people are starting to notice which is awesome. The difficult part comes next... normally when people start telling me I look great, this is when my mind tells me that I've done it, I'm done and I don't need to continue. I know I'm far from done in order to be at a healthy weight. This weekend has been rough. I had way too many pan potatoes at breakfast (those I promised to give to my children), and I had way too many bites of the pizza we bought the boys for supper. Gabe had to be the stronger man in this weight loss battle tonight because if it wasn't for his mental strength today, we also would have had pizza for supper. Not just a few bites, but most likely half of a pizza each. So I'm glad one of us can be strong when the other one can't. I'm on my period this week and I just want to devour everything. Also, our weight loss dude messed up and we've been "forced" into a fourth week of cleansing after having done already 4 weeks of my brother in law's cleansing menu before that. I'm sick of cleansing! It's time to give me a little more! Next week we're getting a new menu so it should be interesting :). I'm going to have a banana and popcorn for supper to make up for my bad behaviour today. It's rough but it'll be worth it!
With this week having been as long as it was, I'm going to leave you with the weekly pics and try to relax a bit before another busy week starts! Here goes :

This is my exercise in mindfulness. Wine and coloring. Gabe said I have way more patience than he does. I'm just not artistic so I went with all one color. |
