Spring spring where are you?

That picture was this time last year... almost no snow, babies are just in pyjamas and spring sweaters, we have no mittens and no tuques and we're happy as can be... I wasn't this happy today let me tell you!  Yes, it's winter (well not anymore), and yes, I realize we're in Canada, but enough already.  This wind today?  It's like Old Man Winter is giving us the finger on his way out... I was home on Monday with the whole gang, thankfully Gabe was with me as the kids were still a bit sick and all they wanted to do was be on us.  On Wednesday, Zachary had to stay home so another snow day worked out well because I was able to stay home with him instead of having to book a supply.  The other two Gabe brought to daycare so it was a mommy and Zachary day which was sweet.  It let me experience a day being a mom of one... man! My life would be so much easier (NOT EASY!!) just simpler I guess is the word.  I only had to think of him, I could cuddle with him and not have two other little hands on my knees wanting to crawl up on me too.  I only had to dress one child, take him, put him in his car seat, go to Sobeys, plop him in the cart and shop away!  Get home, give him a snack while I put away the groceries and not worry about his brothers trying to steal his snack or him trying to bite his brothers for trying to steal his snack.  I play with him and cuddle some more, give him lunch and put him to bed.  I have to say that I missed Samuel and Jacob all day long though.  It was nice not having to say: "Don't bite your brother Zachary.  Don't push your brother Samuel.  Don't smack your brother in the head Jacob" but I missed them nonetheless.
My mom has gone back to Florida for a month as my sister is still waiting on word on the next steps and she's well enough now to do most activities on her own.  Before she left, her, my sister and I went out for a supper to celebrate my sister's Cancer Free status and St Patrick's Day.  My mom is half Irish and so that gives us a pretty good helping of Irish blood.  I always have at least a beer for St-Pat's day.  Gone are the university days where I'd begin my day with Fruit Loops and beer with my buddy Derek... gross I know, but we were cool university students, give me a break!  It was a really nice night out, we ate, we laughed, we cried, we had beer and we laughed some more.  I had gotten used to being able to see and rely on my mom again so it'll suck to have her gone but it's going to go by fast, it always does.
The boys were 16 months old yesterday... where does the time go?  They're all walking, they're saying a bunch of words like "Dodo, Balle, Bain, L'eau, Yummy, Dada, Maman, Uh Oh!", too freaking cute.  They still can't point to any body parts which for some reason always makes me question my education of them.  A while ago, I read that at 13 months, they should have been able to point to 2-3 body parts and I always refer back to that as far as their development.  Silly right?  They'll know where their nose is one day, I know I shouldn't worry, but those emails they send me about "this is what your 16 month old should do" always worry me when the boys aren't doing what they say they're meant to be doing.  They do so many other cute and amazing things that the articles don't mention so whatever right?  They're using their sign language more and more which is too cute for words.  Jacob has an unhealthy obsession with some mini banana muffins I made and he kept making the sign for "more".  After 4 muffins, we stopped (for good reason) and he had an at least 30 minute breakdown.  I've never seen them freak out about food like that before.  I had to give in and give him my phone to get him out of his banana muffin transe as nothing else was working.  He just kept pointing to the cupboard and then the kitchen when I took him out and bawling his eyes out.
Last night we went to Isaac's 2nd birthday party (my friend Sarah's little boy) and we sat the boys down in big people chair and although the table was in line with their nose, they stayed there and ate a whole slice of pizza each, some fruit, some cheesies and some graham crackers.  They were so cute sitting there and they looked so tiny!  It's just another sign of them growing up and me realizing that they're not babies anymore... Some of my triplet moms have been announcing pregnancies lately and a part of me is actually a little jealous.  Don't think of me as insane.  You have to realize that my pregnancy was not normal and not one I got to fully enjoy.  A local twin mom just had a singleton baby and she keeps raving about how much fun she's having with her baby.  Just being able to focus and him and love him and cuddle. Granted her twin sons are 6 or 7 so they don't quite need all the attention the boys would still need if I were to get pregnant now but I do mourn the fact that I'll never had a "regular" pregnancy or a "regular" delivery or get to hold my newborn in my arms right after birth as most of my friends got to do and have that beautiful first glowing picture.  I'll never have that, as I didn't even get to SEE the boys until 22 hours after they were born and even then it was through an incubator.  I KNOW that some singleton pregnancies and birth stories are just as difficult as mine was.  I was in the NICU for a month, I know this first hand so don't think I think every singleton pregnancy is perfect, it's just that in my head, mine would be... A girl can dream about things that'll never happen right?  And NO, it'll never happen as we just can't afford it... sad but true.

Well that's it for this week folks... I gotta go mark some papers... a teacher's job is never done...

Enjoy the pics!

Daddy and sick Zachary taking a little nap

All babies wanted to be on mommy while Daddy was out shoveling... they're getting a little big for that!!

Phew!  Daddy's back!

Fun times at The Pumphouse with my sister and my mom

Jacob loves to hang out without a shirt on

They made it all the way up the steps and into the house :)

St-Patrick's Day photoshoot

Samuel wasn't too sure about his little hat

Jacob really didn't like it...

Zachary loved it!
Mommy and Zachary day

He was so tired, he went for a nap without lunch and didn't even flinch when I went in to take this picture

Shoving half a banana in his mouth

You gonna give me more banana maman?

What do you mean "all done", I see three more bananas on the table!

At Isaac's' birthday party, looking so freaking adorable in their big boy chairs

All Zach wanted was the juice

Fun times, fun people, nice spread.  Too bad we couldn't stay longer!

I HAD to capture this crying face... He's been crying so much lately I couldn't even tell you the reason for this one... Probably because I took away the light clicker...

Samuel hanging out on the couch with his legs crossed with his cousin Alexie and Matante Cindy

Can you spot Gabrielle in all the toys?

Jacob checking out his goody bag from the party... well he's actually checking Samuel's goody bag as he's already emptied his... Thanks Sarah!!!

We brought the snow inside today so the boys could play

They really enjoyed it.  Only ate a little bit...

Don't bite your brother Samuel... even though he totally came in and sat on your while you were trying to play peacefully in the toy car.

Don't retaliate Zachary!

As always my friends... have a good week!
